Who we are
A friend needed it, so we built it.
Hormone Helper started as an app for one friend who kept getting stuck between the clinic, the pharmacy and the insurance company. Other people found it, and it grew from there.
Today it's Hormone Helper, Inc., a small company in Portland, Oregon, building the app we wish every trans person had.
John Patterson
John builds Hormone Helper: the iPhone app, the Budulai assistant and the servers behind it. Before this, he designed training for healthcare and financial compliance, which taught him how regulated systems really work. He studied film at Willamette University.
Abraham Glennon
Abe tests every screen to make sure it's person-first. His background is in mental-health support, and he's the reason hard news in the app sounds like someone is on your side. He studied psychology and social science at Portland State University.
Dylan Steele
Dylan is part of why Hormone Helper exists. She tests the app, brings the community's voice into every decision and is helping shape how we talk to the people we serve.
Checked independently
John builds it. An independent board checks it.
We're filling five review seats: a prescriber, a health-privacy lawyer, a security reviewer, a clinic manager and a patient advocate. Any one of them can stop a release, and every finding is written down.
We'll name each person here once they've said yes in writing.
